What a special day! It takes a village to bring Porchfest to life and we wanted to send out some big thanks! Thank you to: - The porches and the entire Hilton neighborhood for hosting the event - All of the performers and Honk Paraders for their amazing entertainment - The lemonade stands for their refreshments that go to a good cause - Maplewood township and Vic DeLuca for their support, and the police department and everyone who worked to keep this event safe - Maplewood Community Music for their organizational support - Luke for the design and upkeep of the map and schedule - Hilton Neighborhood Association, T-shirt purchasers, and gofundme donors for their generous funds that help keep us free and commercial free - And especially all of you for coming out to our festival, enjoying our community and being a hugely important part of our event! It’s Showtime! Porchfest kicks off with our honk parade, which meets at DeHart Community Center (120 Burnet Ave) at Noon and kicks off at 12:30pm. Everyone is welcome! Bring your instrument, or just march! With the move to today, we’ve had a few schedule changes. Some performer moves to note: We’re excited to have @honest_wagner join us! They’ll be playing porch #12 at 11 Vermont St. from 3-4pm. We’re also excited for Mike Choi to join us on porch #26 @ 117 Lexington Ave. from 2-3pm. @ladylycheemusic has moved to porch #29 @ 778 Prospect St. from 1-2pm (moved from porch 30). We also have another lemonade stand for charity at 144 Franklin benefiting Sea Turtle Recovery of NJ. Unfortunately Adventures in Ozz, Jay Daniels, Hallie K, and The Maybes couldn’t make the rain date. We hope to see them at a future Porchfest! Enjoy the music and the day! Be courteous of our porch hosts - please follow their lead regarding standing/sitting on their property. Many will have canopies and some seating provided, but of course please feel free to bring your own! Porchfest friends, we are so excited to party with you tomorrow! Due to the rain date we have a few changes coming to the map and schedule for our event tomorrow. We will announce them, and make updates to the digital and printable maps and schedule, by tomorrow morning. Stay tuned!

Porchfest moved to tomorrow, Monday Sept. 2nd! Unfortunately the weather continues to look iffy, and we’ve made the call that it’s safer to move to our rain date. Enjoy a relaxing day today, and we’ll see you tomorrow!

For those of you driving to the event, a few reminders about parking: Please don’t park in front of our Hilton porches. Performers, please feel free to park temporarily to load/unload. There are many legal spots to park all over Hilton. Free street parking and free municipal parking is available on Prospect St/Hilton, Springfield Ave/Yale, and at the Dehart Center. Make sure it’s legal!Look for the police signs to see where you can/ cannot park. There will be Hilton streets blocked by barricades - please don’t drive past those, and please find another place to park (unless you are a performer or resident).

Feeling thirsty during your Porchfest wandering? We have options for you! Support our lemonade stands for charity along the Porchfest route. See locations on our map. Stop by any number of awesome local businesses in the area! The Sandwicheria, General Store Shops & Cafe and HLS Juice Bar & Grill are right on Springfield Ave. near Prospect. Artie’s and Porta Rossa are great options if you’re heading to porches 1-10. And the new Community Cafe @ Edo’s is right over the border in Union, near porches 20-21. Of course, you can also bring your own refreshments! Just please don’t forget to throw your track in bins at the porches or bring it with you.

Maplewood Porchfest 2024 is scheduled for Sunday September 1 from 1-5 PM (rain date September 2). We hope to see you there. Just as in previous years, our free event will feature numerous porches around the Hilton neighborhood of Maplewood with a wide array of music and entertainment throughout the afternoon.

Families: kick off Porchfest with us by joining the Honk Parade! Gather at the DeHart Community Center at 12 noon. From there, we march to 121 Lexington, and then it’s out into the neighborhood to see the bands!

Porchfest

We are so happy to have a Porchfest right here in Maplewood, but did you know that we aren't alone? Far from it! From Ithaca (where it all started about a decade ago) to Philly, Seattle to Westhaven, Jacksonville to Fredericksburg to Boston (like, a dozen in the Boston area alone)!

Porchfests are everywhere!

Maplewood Porchfest was the brainchild of local pianist/vocalist Bill Tally, who went to Jamaica Plain Porchfest in Boston every year. He brought the idea to his hometown, put together a committee of musicians from Maplewood Community Music to run the event. The committee chose the Hilton neighborhood for its perfect layout, easy walkability, and its porches (of course).

Maplewood Community Music is the official presenter of Maplewood Porchfest.

The Hilton Neighborhood Association is a key supporter. Along with an annual donation, the group provides several volunteers on the day of the event.
